چکیده

A novel multivariate model predictive control strategy (LV-MPC) for trajectory tracking and disturbance rejection for batch processes, based on multiway PCA models, is presented. It directly computes the manipulated variable trajectory adjustments over a future horizon using the structure of the PCA model. The advantages and the modest data requirements are illustrated using an emulsion polymerization process for temperature tracking. Copyright © 2002 IFAC

Latent Variable Modeling of Batch Processes for Trajectory Tracking Control

Latent Variable Modeling (LVM) of batch processes is explored from the view point of its application to trajectory tracking model predictive controller design. The ability of the models to capture nonlinearity and time-varying properties of batch processes and to provide a well-behaved description of the process are important characteristics to be considered. Furthermore, the importance of requ...

Trajectory tracking in batch processes using latent variable models ?

The set-point tracking of certain process variable trajectories is often needed for the lower level control in batch processes so as to achieve desirable final product quality for the higher level control. In order to realize trajectory tracking successfully, process models should be known in advance. In fact, process models play an essential role in trajectory tracking. Due to the difficulty f...

Latent Variable MPC and its Consistency in Temperature Control of Batch Processes

In this work, an investigation has been made in to the performance of latent variable MPC (LV-MPC) in the specific application of reactor temperature control of an exothermic batch process. The paper analyzes the LV-MPC control law derivation and its performance within a batch application. The article considers both constrained and unconstrained applications.

A system identification approach for developing model predictive controllers of antibody quality attributes in cell culture processes

As the biopharmaceutical industry evolves to include more diverse protein formats and processes, more robust control of Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs) is needed to maintain processing flexibility without compromising quality. Active control of CQAs has been demonstrated using model predictive control techniques, which allow development of processes which are robust against disturbances asso...

Online Monitoring for Industrial Processes Quality Control Using Time Varying Parameter Model

A novel data-driven soft sensor is designed for online product quality prediction and control performance modification in industrial units. A combined approach of time variable parameter (TVP) model, dynamic auto regressive exogenous variable (DARX) algorithm, nonlinear correlation analysis and criterion-based elimination method is introduced in this work. The soft sensor performance validation...
